Lets talk military

Last week I wore this shirt to work. 

The number of comments I got was huge. "Are you going to war?", "Where is your ranks?", etc. 

I can understand that people in Israel are not very into the military look. In Israel, where army service is a must, and war is something we are all familiar with, I guess people can't look at military cloths as fun or fashion. 

I also tried to avoid wearing military influenced cloths for years. But after finishing my mandatory service, and then some, I left this period behind - and today I am able to enjoy this great trend. I find it fun and versatile, and also a bit androgynous - which I love. 

Ever since I bought my first military jacket at Urban Outfitters, we are I can't take it down in the short winter we have here in Israel. I just love it. 

I guess comments are part of fashion, and this is part of the fun part of getting dressed. So for me, military cloths are definitely a yes. How about you?

בשבוע שעבר לבשתי את החולצה הזו לעבודה.

כמות התגובות שקיבלתי היתה בלתי נתפסת. "איפה הדרגות שלך?", "שכחת את הכומתה..." או "את יוצאת למלחמה?". 

אני יכולה להבין שקשה לאנשים בארץ לעכל בגדים צבאיים. במדינת ישראל, צבא מתחבר במקרה הטוב עם מסדרים ועבודות רס"ר ובמקרה הרע עם מלחמה, סכסוך ושטחים. בטח שלא עם פאשן ועם כיף. 

במשך שנים נמנעתי גם אני מללבוש אותם. אבל אחרי כמה שנים (טובות!) בצה"ל, השארתי את התקופה הזו מאחור - והיום אני מרשה לעצמי להנות גם עם זה. מהרגע שקניתי בurban outfitters בניו יורק את הז'קט הצבאי הראשון שלי, אנחנו בלתי נפרדים בעונת החורף הקצרה מדי. 

אני מודה שיש רגעים שאני עוצרת את עצמי מלקנות פריט צבאי, מהחשש של מה יהיו התגובות. והנה ברגע שלבשתי אחד בגאווה התגובות לא איחרו לבוא. אבל בעצם זה הכיף באופנה, לא? בשביל מה להתלבש אם לא כדי לעורר תגובות של אנשים מסביב. ולמרות שאני מרבה להגיד שאני מתלבשת בעיקר כדי להרגיש טוב עם עצמי ולא בשביל אף אחד אחר, אני מודה שהרבה מזה זה גם הקשר עם הסביבה.

אני אמשיך ללבוש בגדים צבאיים. ואתם?
